View Full Version : First bear hunt in 4 years
Finally got back out for a spring bear after missing the past 4 years and thought I would share a couple of pics. Now I can't wait to get back out there again later in the month. Jim

Very nice, that is quite the noggin on him :-)
No rug for me this time hotshot. I gave this hide to my cousins nephew to tan. Not sure what he wants to do with it once it's tanned. I'm sure he'll enjoy what ever he ends up having done to it. Jim

Great work Jim, give us some kind of story though. We all wish we were out there I'm sure.
No exciting story for this one sorry. I came around the corner and he was standing there looking at me. He was even kind enough to stand there long enough for me to get off the bike and load my gun. I must admit though that I think he is the heaviest bear I've ever taken. He actually had several inches of fat which I find unusual for a spring bear. Gotta have dumb luck once in a while. Jim

Wow, that thing is huge! Congrats on your bear!
Great bear Jim!
I'm heading out tomorrow...hope to be as lucky.
Hope you are going to make a rug. Lived in Powell River for a while and saw a lot of bears....that one is as nice as any I ever saw there.

You cut the head and paws off.....
No RiverOtter the head and paws are still there. Some of the paws may not be visible from that camera angle. It is hanging from one of the back paws. Jim

Hahahaha, ya I see it now; the pic was a little deceiving at first, especially with the head facing away a bit.
Anyway, if I haven't already said so, congrats on a beauty bear....

haha awesome, thanks for posting and cangrats on your amazing bear! Are you going after another? or are you done for the year?
Thanks guys , I am going to go looking again. I have to work this weekend but then I have two 3 day weekends in a row to go and wander around up the lake. Not really worried about whether or not I take another one as long as I get off the couch and get out there. Might even do a bit of fishing at the same time. Hopefully the weather will co-operate this time. If nothing else I'll check out a bunch of area I've never seen before.
