Hi, I shot a big bull in the Koots Wed. Night. He's quartered and hanging in my garage. I rolled the cape over the head to get the neck meat out but I need to skin the head now for a shoulder mount. I realize I don't have much time left.
Does anyone have any suggestions for someone to skin the head today between Pemberton and Vancouver? Fur and Feathers are gone hunting and I've never used a taxidermist on the lower mainland.
I wasn't going to mount it but I really should. I would post a pic but don't know how from my phone.
Thanks for the help!

as long as you skin all the way up to as close to behind the ears as you can get just cut the neck there and take that in, a taxidermist can do the rest, make sure you leave as much skin as possible behind the shoulder. in my experience you don't need to skin the head

Take it in as is to the taxidermy shop. They can do it for you and most prefer you to do that way so they and make the correct measurements for the mount. Congrats on the bull. I've been trying to get a koots bull for 5 years now. Come close once on a monster 7x8 at 300 yards but he was in a burn and I couldn't get a clear shot through the trees. Taking an elk is quite the attachment so congrats again. I am hoping that my luck changes this year too as I am leaving today for an island Rosie hunt.

uploading a pic isn't easy on here....sorry. I have been lucky enough to take an elk every year since 1997. This one happens to be the biggest. I have a 325 (archery) on the wall but he might have to go now. I haven't needed a taxidermist since I moved to the coast so thanks for the suggestions...I ended up dropping it off at Gander. They were very nice guys.
Thanks for the help guys and good luck on the Rosie....I got one last year in 112-C

I only have a few pics of my mounts from the last 15 years. I could email them to someone as I haven't been successful loading pics on here. Some of the years were cows but yes, an elk every year. I am actually a meat hunter now...the first few years I was looking for nice bulls and shot a few over 300 but now I just want the meat. I shot a cow Rosie last year and it was delicious. This bull (which just happened to be large) was on my last day I could hunt so I put the bow down and I shot him with a gun...I have hunted with my bow since '97.
I used to guide elk hunts but got sick of watching guys wound animals. I've spent a lot of time over the years stalking elk.
