Supposedly killed with a bow in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness.
Green Score 575" and net 530". Spread 79".

This is what was said on the Accurate Reloading Forum. I think it was probaly raised on a farm in texas or something like that. Considering the Pope and Young world record elk now are 409 for typical and 442 non typical, thats smashing the old record. Few too many steroids.

elk ranch - i wondered that at first to, but it does look like elk country in the back ground. i would like to think it's a bogus farm raised antler steroid fed freak to becuase it sure beat's my little 6x7 rosey from last year that i shot on crown land.

It is an awesome bull.

It woudl be rather disheartening to find it was a "farm" elk.

I guess that's one less object to spot off Google Earth.

I flew over Texas once at 30,000 feet. Never saw it...

Man, that thing is the Arnold of Elk.

Although I do feel some envy, it's like lookin at pictures of animals. There is a difference between wild and fenced.

Would you bring the meat out the first day or the rack and cape? Then go back in two days and take all the rest out with three other guys to help?

This is from Boone and Crocketts web site:

Email Overload
September 29, 2006This photo is circulating the internet at World's Record pace. The text accompanying the photo states that it was taken in the Selway Wilderness in Idaho with a bow and scores somewhere between 530-575.
B&C is reserving judgment on this bull. If this bull were, in fact, taken as a natural, free-ranging, wild, native elk from the Selway region of Idaho, it would be approximately 130-150 inches bigger than any elk ever recorded from that region.

Its likely a ranched bull. The ear tag is probably hidden on the right ear (which is tucked out of view). The grassy edge is likely part of a nice green pasture.

No need to be green or red with envy ......... a few bucks will get any of you a bull like that.......

Just go here and take your pick: (they even advertise a potential 500" bull that can be the new world record bow elk for Safari Club).......

http://www.elkhuntingpreserve.com/booking_elk_hunt.html

Not my thing, but quite a few dudes obviously are out there to keep these businesses afloat.

There are quite a few of these ranches and only last year there was another giant bull circulating the internet that proved to be a ranch bull.

That is what this bull is .......unless as firebird put it ...... doctored photo.

If farmed I'm really not impressed. If wild I truly am impressed! A great bull either way, but I'm rather suspicious.

It probably is a farmed Bull though...

It in no way is Texas. Elk farms dont typically have a river of that size flowing through it. Tooo difficult to fence. Its a big fricken bull and thats all there is to it. As for thier smiles I'm sure that there were a lot of other pics before and after this was taken. Any ways congrats to whom ever shot it Nice Bull.

If you spend a bunch of time playing with photoshop, it ain't that hard to come up with a convincing photo just like that. Hell I do it all the time and have most of you guys fooled. ;)

Chances are if that bull is indeed real, it's a high fenced farm raised steriod freak. Every year there are so-called Worlds Records that turn out to be just some pet some guy paid a ton of cash to shoot.

I think it's just sleeping and they snuck up behind it. Good stalking skills, though! In the next picture you will see:
(a) it woke up and kicked their ass
OR
(b) they killed it with a pen knife.
YOU DECIDE!

I think you might be right. It couldn't get up and run away if it wanted too, i don't think it can lift it's own head up.

Thats the first thing (well, after all those points) I noticed too. You'd think a guy that managed to track that thing down in the bush and shoot it (with a bow no less) would be friggin extatic.

It absolutaly looks like a farmed franken-elk. Sask has a dozen of these available for a price. I hope I'm wrong but thats how I'd bet.

UPDATE: Some sources (not yet verified) are pointing to a canned hunting facility in Quebec as the location of this bull, rather than a free-ranging elk in Idaho.

LMAO!!!! Like I said, every year some guy kills some pen raised pet and then sends out emails and gets everyone all worked up thinking there is a New World's Record. Just another case of a steriod bull that someone was trying to knock off as legit.

This is the scourge of hunting and hunters today, same thing is happening in Sask. right now and is advertised heavily in U'all magazines. We gotta keep the good fight up here in BC and keep game farming of our indigenous species against the law.

I find it really sad that a beautiful elk like that was basically "slaughtered" on a game farm. And to the rich guy who thinks he has the bragging rights of a world's record...he will be a laughing stock among the "real" hunting community.

very true, but 99% of people in his life will buy his B.S. and think hes the king of all elk hunters, when it couldnt be farther from true!
