Beginner Bow

im thinking about getting a bow and what would be good for a begginer

Giving advice is always a two-edged sword. But, my mommy didn't raise no squeamish puppies - so here goes.

First off......do you want to shoot compound or traditional? Do you plan to hunt or target shoot or 3D or a combination of any or all of the aforementioned?

Are you going to shoot fingers only or do you want to use a release?

How much (in inches) is your wingspan - middle finger tip to middle finger tip?

How tall are you and how much do you weigh? Are you large and robust or smaller and diminutive?

All these things impact on what "kind" of bow you might be comfortable with as your first one. If you get an uncomfortable choice right off the bat, then practising and/or playing is no fun.

OK......from what you have said, I would suggest a bow that is at least 36" or 40" AtA - which simply means "axle to axle". Anything shorter and you will most probably encounter what is known as finger pinch. Short AtA bows are not decent finger shooter bows because of the severe angle of the string when at full draw.

If you are that tall, then I'd suggest a 42" AtA bow with a brace height of at least 7.75" set at something in the order of 50 lbs to 60 lbs draw weight. You didn't say what your budget is but, here are a couple of websites to visit to get an idea of the cost involved.
