Was out on the Bobtail FSR on Thursday bear hunting. We saw 4 in all and we drove over 200 statue miles. Though they were few in number, they were very fat, round like basketballs, but still moven like elstinko when they spotted you. The 4 bears that we spotted were all under 6 feet and we were not interested in taking them. We were looking for that once in a lifetime shooter.
We think two things may be in play here for the paucity of bear spotting. I think it is a combination of unsettled weather and all the food available this year. Boy is it ever green outback. Then too it could also have been motor noise from the Ford 1 ton diesel. They took off long before we spotted them as they heard us comming. There is so much food out there they do not need to come near the roads. What say all the rest of the bear hunters out there?
