Can't help you for location but I've still gotta chime in. A buddy and I head out once a year in the dark with a bunch of beers and a couple big fishing nets. He's got tonnes of barns so we always get 60 or 70 birds.
I built a huge cage that we put them all in. The next day we invite all the boys out for our annual pigeon shoot. Better than sporting clays IMO.
What a blast!!!

Are you going to eat these birds. Try a feed mill. Used to get lots of birds when I worked for Landmark Feeds.

It's likely, you're gonna need permission to hunt private lands for this. As said, every farm in the FV has pigeons; just go for a drive and knock on doors.
If you're looking for the above, here, then ask the question.

We don't! Of course, I have a son who is 13 and loves to shoot, so that if they do show up, they don't last very long or retreat to friendlier areas.

Sorry, I don't have farmlands..... All I got here is squirrels. But what I said about knocking on doors holds true; I used to do it LOTS. If I've eaten 1 pigeon, I've eaten hundreds. As a rookie, it was a regular gig of mine on the weekends and once I found a farmer that was willing, networking kept me busy.
Squab,,,, good shtuff!!

I had it pigeon for the first time about a month ago. It was pretty good and I would eat it again if I get the chance. It was a pretty dark meat.

It wasn't too bad actually.
This pigeon came from a cage out front of a restaurant in China. I was happy to see the bird cooked well as opposed to being on the undercooked side. It was cooked over a charcoal fire so that would might explain the appearance of it. It was very tastey though. Not a huge amount of meat on it but more meat than a quail.
There is probably as much meat on these three quail put together as there was on the one pigeon.

Sorry about hijacking your thread. I knew people who worked in the barns at the PNE, they said they would routinely do a cull on the pigeons there since the population would get out of control pretty quickly.
