I'm getting reports from drivers that they are seeing a moose along the highway in Chilliwack. Can some other people confirm this?

A buddy was picking mushroom up Skagit in behind Manning Park and saw a few moose there and lots of tracks. Who knows maybe won't have to drive to far to shoot them in the future

There's the odd moose that wanders down to the outskirts of Hope. I've seen their Easter eggs.

They have been around. A bull was hit by a car just south of the Wack in Ryderlake in the 60-70's. Was told by a neighbor that they heard about it and went to investigate. They found it on its back in the ditch, got a hold of it and hacked it up among them. The old man also seen a cow up Slollicum out of harrison in the 80's.. Far and few between though.

I recall years ago a couple of moose seen in the early morning on the edge of the Peace Portal Golf Course in Surrey. It was an officially confirmed sighting. Don't see why they couldn't wander into the Chilliwack area as well.
When I was a kid you had to go to the north end of the cariboo to find them, but they have moved into the southern portions of the province over the years.

I saw with my own eyes, and confirmed by my 2 partners a cougar running down the road.. downtown vancouver. We were on our way to granville Island and sitting at a light we see this thing bolt across the road. we hit the lights on the side of the armoured truck to spot it and it ran a few blocks then buggered off down an alley. It was reported the next morning as a hoax on the news, but I assure you.. that was a cougar. weird things happen.

I would say it is very possible that there is a moose in Chilliwack ,just think about it it is not that far for a moose to travel from the west side of Manning park down to the foot hills of the Fraser Vally..

My son and I were fishing the Skagit in August, 2 years ago. We ran into another fisherman from our game club. He showed us the pictures of a moose on his digital camera he had taken just down stream from us.

When I lived down at the coast and hunted the skagit valley I saw Elk coming out one night and one afternoon a lone moose on a hillside. They were in there in about 1993.

Saw a nice bull moose up real close in the Anderson watershed several years ago, rushed back to my truck a couple kms. back to read the regs. and sure enough, any bull moose was open, but by the time I got back, it was too far away for a responsible shot.....heard from the gatekeeper that someone got it the next weekend.

Seen lots of moose up Sowaqua, there was one poached (shot and rolled over the bank) up there a few years back.
I was the first one on the scene after that one was shot I was actually able to get cell reception right there to report it the CO's one came and checked it out I thought they would remove it and use it because it had just been shot but he told me he just dragged it over the bank.
I could hardly get my truck around it going in the ass wipes shot it with a 25-06 and just left it there it was a very nice bull.
I've seen lots of moose in this area even had one jump out on the road just past the left fork of the first Y this spring while I was black bear hunting and a few years ago saw a cow and a calf on the right fork.

I was quadding up the tamahi about a month ago and found the recent remains of a moose. Could have been dumped there, it was just off an old logging road.

About 12-14 years ago a freind and myself were hunting deer at the top end of Stave Lake, and were tent camping a short way up the river near the old log dump.
My freind went for a short stroll out back of the tent to water the plants. He yelled "come here, you won't believe this unless you see it", so I hustled over and there in the swampy mucky ground were a large set of moose tracks heading east to the mountain side.
We figured this animal may have come down from the Pemberton area and was making its way east across to the top end of Chehalis and Harrison Lake.
My freind was right though, if I hadn't seen it for myself, I wouldn't have believed him. :-D

I have seen two cows and calves and a bull on the US side of the border south of the Hope/Chilliwack area in the last six years as well in the Princeton area. So I do not see any reason why they would not be on the Canadian side as well near Hope/Chilliwack.
