I keep the main camp set up the way I put it up.
Then for a spike camp I sleep in the front of my truck.
I take what I need for a few days for a spike camp..

wall tent with wood stove, camp cots, etc. A place to come back to if you get soaking wet and dry clothes, have a good sleep and go back at it.

In the past base camp = wall tent/wood stove etc now that I am taking my 3 year old I bought a camper for my PU.
To me a spike camp is near the top of a ridge in a small 3 man Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight or if I'm able to run in on the ATV a far heavier/larger 4 man Sierra Designs stretch Prelude.
I try to set up so all I have to do is open the fly to look out at where I am hunting or its only a couple hundreds yards at the most to the cut/meadow/ridge.

I have a camper I use as a base. I leave one dog at base camp and take one with me.
