Just wondering how to get the left over blood off the skull plate of the buck i got this year? Do i have to boil it or can i just bleach it?

Thanks.

pick all the crap you can off ofit after you boil it for about 30 minutes then set it to dry

I would boil it for 10 minutes and scrape everything off with a knife or sand it off with sandpaper, once it's clean, boil it for another half hour and you're good to go.

Add some sal soda ( washing soda) to the water and just bring to a boil. The skull will come clean and any tissue will turn to jelly and come off easily.

I have boiled all of my antlers, but had a mishap this year. It was a young deer (little 3X2) and when I boiled the skull plate it ended up breaking in half, so on each side I had one antler attached to half a skull plate. I had to glue together, but it was not straight. I boiled for about an hour, maybe it was too long. If you are going to boil, do so with caution.

Never use bleach as over time it will slowly eat away at your skull. In a couple years you will have white powder constantly falling off. Use hydrogen peroxide, the stronger the better.

Don't actually boil the water, just heat the water. Put the skull in while the water and skull are the same temp to avoid breaking.
I just did my first whitening, turned out great for my first one. No bleach, 1/2 a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and an old tooth brush.
To heat the water i used the bbq, the distance from the flame to the bottom of the pot was perfect and didnt boil the water. just a little more time envoled in the begining

Brock77. Great Idea with the BBQ. I was using the Coleman white gas stove. It was a huge pain.
