i saw the thread leaseman started about how many moose you have shot and when did you start hunting. And i was wondering the same about deer?
how long have hunted and how many?

21 years, over 50 deer myself, I used to almost always cut all 3 tags every year. Im a bit more selective these days!

I got a couple blacktail with my rifle years ago when I first moved to Vancouver island, then went several years without shooting anything but ducks/grouse.
I started bowhunting in 2001 and making an annual trip to the kootenays. Went a couple years without a whitetail harvest, but got two more blacktail while I was learning the ropes. Since then I have shot at least 2 deer/year since 03 with the bow plus a few elk.

I highly recommend to any hunters who are new and want to hunt where there is lots of game and a good chance of a harvest, pick up a bow, become proficient and hit the east Koot bow season.

Been at it since 1979, over 3 dozen from reg. 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Mostly mulies, a few BT's and WT's. Some good ones but short of the book.

Hope to hunt them for a good time longer too.

Been hunting since 2003- two 3p mulie, one 2p mulie, one white tail 4X5, one white tail doe, and one black tail 3X4 (but the 3 has a brow tine!)

Started going with my dad when I was seven years old, I am fifty two now. Shot my first Blacktail when I was twelve. My dad ( he turned 73 yesterday) and I try to make a trip every year for Mulies, but I have done most of my hunting on Vancouver Island and I prefer to hunt deer. When I was young and single I hunted almost every weekend, most of those years I filled all three tags.These days I don't get out as often and I am more selective. The best guess I can come up with is around sixty deer. I have been lucky enough to shoot two mulies over 175 inches but all the deer I have shot are trophies to me.

Never really pursued deer. Always carried a tag while hunting moose, but as long as we were successful we never worried about a deer. I do hunt them religiously now, but as long as the freezer is full I am for the most part selective, but I have taken 16. I haven't taken a buck now in three years because of that, just been passing them up looking for "Big Louie"

Hunted since 2001, so over the last 8 years I have taken 18 deer. Ranging from wall hangers to spikes and this year for the first time ever I shot a doe as I could only go out for one hunt and needed to get some meat in the freezer.

3 deer a year for 18 years, 3rd deer was with a gun, got rid of the gun and only bow hunted since.

38 years of Island hunting (first 10), then mulie for the last longest time....

hard to remember the numbers, but between 45-60 would be close + - .....and none are true wall hangers yet...... still some time left to find one now that my son is bring home the meat on his own license.....;-)

Wow, good question. Over 40 yrs hunting, not sure on how many deer that would be, didn't count them as they are meat to me but it would be over 40 and under 60 I would imagine.

Started hunting Mowitch in 76 , can't even guess how many deer i've taken. In all these years i've never been skunked. And in the last 7 years i've taken my bag limit of 3, always holding out for at least a four piont

Mostly blacktails with a bow 5x6 is the biggest(double brow tine 1 side)
1-5x5 mulie with a bow
about 15 mulies with rifle (most are 5x5, 1-5x6)
3 whities 4x4 being the biggest...

grew up in england were there is no bag limits on deer,shot 4 on one summers evening, scottish highland stalkers kill in excess of 300-500 cull deer per year, not including trophy stags, wreckon i shot 1 a month over 25 years at a guess, but the deer are a lot smaller over there,

I'd be in that 50 range. Have killed 3 deer a year numerous times but in recent years, I've taken to eating tag soup on a regular basis.

I went on my first deer hunt in 1978, although I was just tagging along with my Pa. Killed my first deer (muley) in '82. Have never really been that jazzed on deer hunting (just something to do after sheep/elk seasons) or deer meat for that matter, so have not killed very many. Maybe a 1/2 dozen of each whiteys and muleys over the years. I'm still looking for muy grande.

Never have hunted BTs.

started at 10 yrs old. Probably about 40ish several fallow deer hunts, trips to the charlottes and lots of years with 3 tags cut never cut less than one. Lost count after a while still remember every hunt though. Learning how to hold the trigger finger now. Its hard though

Ive taken 4 deer in the last 6 years, all mulies. The first buck was a 2x2 a few years ago, a 4x3 with my son two years ago, and a 2x2 with Noahdawg, my son and sister this year. The first deer I took was a doe, and didn't care too much for it, felt pretty shitty shooting her? I got over it!lol. I passed up a whitetail and a second mulie two years ago cause I was looking for a larger 4x4 mulie or whitetail. I am looking for a larger buck next year, theres one I have bumped into two years in a row, and he will make a mistake, as I am learning more about this deer hunting every year! I am going to get an elk though this year! Moosin

Shot my first deer in 1969, must have harvested about 150 or more since then. Of course we have a 5 deer limit down here now, not to mention it takes at least 2 deer to equal one of your northern deer.

I shot my first blacktail when I was 10 years old. Got a couple more the next year. Then didn't deer hunt till I moved to Kamloops 6 years ago for University. Since then I've got 3x3, 2x2, 4x4, 4x5, 5x5 mulies. Also got a couple blacktails this year aswell.

i started hunting about 3 years ago. 3 grouse, a bunch of squirrels and a few crows are all that have fallen to me. i just have no real luck on the big game, even though that's where i spend most of my hunting time. i've pursued deer and black bear, and haven't even gotten one in my sights yet. :( i must be doing something wrong.

I've hunted 2 deer seasons so far and have got in this order 1 wt doe, 1 bt spike, 1 bt 2 point and 1 bt 3 x 4.

I hope I have many more good seasons like some of you have had.

I have been hunting seriously for about 5 years, I used to go ride around with my dad when I was younger
So far I have 8 deer to my name, 5 mulies,3 whiteys
Best so far was a 4x5 mulie with 3 1/2 brows on either side, scored 165
Weighed about 220lbs dressed and hanging, smallest was this years ugly little deformed whitey wheighed about 80LBs hanging.
Good memories with all of them.
