My 2008 Whitetail

Hi all, well, the trigger was pulled this morning around 7:30 a.m. I took my boy out to get some firewood, hoping to see a nice Typical 5X5 that went missing from my hunting area about 10 days ago. I wasn't sure if someone had killed him or not, so I have passed on a few nice, but smaller 5-pointers the past few days. We didn't find the Typical, but lo & behold, this guy came out and was in hot pursuit of a doe. We watched him for a bit, was still a bit dusky when we first saw him, thought he was one of the young 5-points. It wasn't. Chased him and the doe around for about 1/2 hour when he finally presented a shot. Ran for a bit, then down. Turns out to be a 6X7 with a couple of tips broken off. He's not a monster buck, but I am very happy with him, especially due to the fact, this is the first kill ( big game ) with my son :lol:. Driving out, who do I see, but the big Typical standing broadside in the middle of the road !!!

Thanks for the Kudo's all. I'm not sure about getting a mount done, still pondering that about my Muley from this year. By the way, I put a rough tape on him for spread only. Inside is just under 17", outside, kicker to kicker, is just under 24". Off to Vernon, final get together for the ex-employees of the Glass Plant.
