harvest questionaire query

I am wondering how many people get harvest questionaires. I get them every year but talk to other hunters who have never gotten them. Just curious as I know this is the main source of info used to calculate the leh etc.

I always thought that if you sent them back post haste you were gauranteed a LEH draw for the next year. Apparently I was mistaken! Usually we got the moose questionnaire but this year we got one moose and one muley.

I think the more tags you buy the more chance of getting questioned. example- I buy 2 black bear tags every year and I get specifically asked how many black bears I took. plus, sheep goat and caribou, if you buy those tags you will most likely get questioned.

EVERY YEAR even in NIL seasons - I am leaving a note in mine this year that I think I have a better chance at harvesting a Sasquatch than the elusive NIL critter (I have searched all over for a pic of the NIL but have never found one so how can I harvest a NIL without knowing what one looks like) - but every season I get an LEH for a NIL and harvest questionaire for it.

I'd say every year, but I can't be sure, so I'll say most years at least. I think I always get one asking about any species I drew and LEH for, in addition to the regular "random" selection.

About 5 years ago, I got a questionaire, chucked it in the garbage, about a month later, in the mail, comes another one. This time it had a polite letter in it, asking me to fill it out, as the the govt. depends on this data, etc. etc. well in the trash it went to. Around about a month later, in the mail comes a registered letter. You guessed it, another questionaire, this one has a very stern letter, telling me that as a hunter in the province, we are bound to fill them out, and send them back, or our hunting privileges can be taken away from us. Well needless to say, that one got filled out, and posted before I left the PO.

I have since filled them out according, and posted pronto.

I seem to recieve one of them every second year or so. Always fill them in.

We as hunters need to understand the importance of the questionaire's, and accordingly fill them out. With the limited resources that are put into wildlife management in B.C. we should at least do our part and complete the surveys.

How many people that are quick to complain about regulatory or LEH authorization changes do nothing to support wildlife management?:mad:

I send my appreciation to those members that have filled out and returned their forms. For myself, the only reporting that I was able to complete this year was on a Bull Moose LEH.

On a similar topic (sorry for the rant) we need to lobby gov't for more public consultation regarding changes to wildlife management. It is my understanding that regions (4 and 7?) have implemented some form of public consultation. Do any members know if this is true for the remainder of the province? Region 5 is currently reviewing the 2008 regulations as pertaining to Antlered Mule Deer. It appears that public input opportunities may be limited, rather a panel of Ranchers, Guides and BCWF have been involved to date.

I seem to get one every year and this time it was for about 5 specie.
I actually write extensive notes on the back of the pages, I have no idea if anyone but some data entry clerk reads it but I feel better.

i get a wolf/cougar questionaire for region 1 every year and another one which seems to ask about random species. i also participate in the migratory bird "wing" program.

I can't recall a year where I didn't get one. This years was for Muleys, Elk, Sheep and Wolf.

Always fill em out. Hunter success rates are crucial information for wildlife management. Least I can do as a hunter.

I've gotten them every year since I got passed my core test. Usually get them for muleys, but this year I got it for elk and black bears. Filled out and sent in right away.

I get them every year. Always for whitetail, moose when I have had an LEH, and this year for bear (maybe becasue this year I had a bear tag).
Sadly, this year even though I had hunted more than ever it was my first year of not cutting any tags. Needless to say, I am missing all that pepparoni and sausage in the freezer!

I just put mine in the mail last week ,it was for cougar sine and wolves sine. I also got one foe elk. They sent me this questionnaire to me latter then in the past. :-?.

I get them every year. For about 4 years I would send them in and the following season they would screw up the season I'd hunted and I would have to go scout out another. I fnally sent in 2 or 3 with a polite note telling them to get stuffed if they just wanted to find out what areas to close or severely restrict.
The questionaires just kept coming and so I've mellowed in my old age and now fill them in again.

I've gotten them the last two years. This year for both bears and wolves...last year for wolves and cougars. I fill them in and send them out like they ask. It only takes a couple of minutes.
