Well me and my uncle went for a hunting trip in hopes to find him a buck because he was layed up from a quad accident earlier this year. With the doctors okay, we left on the last ferry from the island on the night of the nov21 and made it to cache creek at 6:30 am, we decide to hunt north of town the first day we only seen two does and I guy with a buck he had just shot.Day two we headed back up north of town to try a spot I was told about on this forum after not being able to locate the spot we heade back to were we hunted the first day and do some hiking ,we hiked about
ten clicks that morning and seen thirty or more does and fawns but no bucks for the evening hunt we headed back to town and headed east we decided we try up high in the mountains so after looking in are map book,we decided on a location once we got on crown land we decide to take the first side rod we seen. This turned out to be a good decision, hiking the side hills in this area we seen 12 bucks( one was legal) and 26 does .The next morning we headed back to the same area my uncle headed up the mountain to wait fo a buck,he missed a 3x4 seen a few mores buck and does,I on the other hand went a differnt way which went through a bunch of cliffes and hills I figure I put about 12kms on the feet that morning I only saw one doe and two calis which made up for the lack of deer. We met back up for lunch checked to see if are rifles were stillshooting straight and headed out for the evening .I watch a small legal 4x4 a big 3x3 and there does tell dark,my uncle saw a few two points and 8 does..That evening we decide we'd head to the top of the mountain the next morning and look for a big guy. When we got up there was fresh snow, luck was on are side at least we could see how much fresh sign would be around. We headed up the mountain, as we neared the top we started noticing fresh tracks and big buck sign everywere. We came to a side road and decide to take it ,half way up the road we found were a big buck ripped a pine tree to pieces thet night.Thats were we parked I decide to head up to an open pine ridge and my uncle walked up the road. AsI headed through an old slashe that consisted of 8-12feet pines I was thinking to myself I was making a little to much noise pushing through the trees but I was almost at the open ridge so I kept going .When I got about 25yrds from the ridge a deer jumped up 60rds to the left of me and started running along the ridge towards me.I quickley realized it was a huge buck and that he hadn't seen me yet when got right in front I mouthed a doe bleat and he stopped(to bad it was behind some brush covering his vital only leaving me a neck shot) not knowing were the sound came i put my crosshairs on the base of his neck, at the shot he fell but was right back up running I reloaded and shot for the lungs, he bucked up in the air and kept going .After I lost sight of him I went up and checked for blood but found nothing but his tracks my heart dropped,Icalled my uncle on the radio and told him to go down the ridge just in case the buck wasn't down.I waited tell he called back and told me was in place I went About ten yrds when he called me back saying a big buck was coming his way my reply was shoot it I heard a shot ring out and immediatly he called back saying he shot at the buck as it was running through some willow and thought he had conected.
