Mark my words, within 5 years, we will buying our tags, if allowed, from the FN. Just look at the above release and the words around "Sheltering". We will be come third class citizens when it comes to our wildlife!!

One person I know who is trying to set up a new hunting coalition was slightly upset with me when privately I told him we dont
need more hunting associations etc.
ITs not that we don't need them, we do.
But we need hunters in Politics....period!
The clubs would help support them in initiatives certainly.
But we need people in the right "seats" that are actually driving the bus.
Rather than folks telling them how to drive the bus.

When a First Nation enters into these agreements with the minister, it will bring provincial laws into alignment with the existing Indigenous laws. This change is expected to improve certainty around data collection and sharing of information on wildlife.

I don't know about others, but as far as I'm concerned they are all to blame. Including the "citizens" that are ok with it in any way and are/were ok with voting in these p***ks.

The UN and it's policies mean nothing to me.

If there is a party that I can vote for that feels the same way then they may get my vote. If there aren't any, then I just won't vote and deal with shit how I see fit.

4.9% of the population will dictate wildlife mgt policy for 100% of the population. Horgan wasn't joking when he said last month that UNDRIP would be at the core of everything his government does. Last week the socialists also announced that Indigenous Studies will be mandatory requirement for high school kids beginning next school year. I agree Sitka the future of hunting and fishing for non natives in BC looks grim, and shit's getting real faster than many of us probably ever imagined. Time to call a realtor!

Bill 14, the Wildlife Amendment Act, 2022, brings in a requirement to consider Indigenous knowledge and establishes a process by which the Province can align its laws with protocol hunting agreements and traditions that have long existed. These changes complement the non-derogation provision recently added to the Interpretation Act. This ensures that the Wildlife Act does not negatively impact Aboriginal constitutional and treaty rights.

“Operationalizing the rights of Indigenous Peoples in British Columbia requires shifts in legislation, policy and practice," said Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, president of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs. "The Wildlife Act amendments are one positive step, while much work is needed to steward and protect species and habitat for Indigenous Peoples. Moving forward, the government must continue to review the act in collaboration with Indigenous Peoples to ensure it is aligned with the United Nations Declaration on the Right of Indigenous Peoples and as part of its commitment to implement the Together for Wildlife Strategy."
