Anyone have any experience in the Akamina area? How are roads getting in there? Wanting to hunt elk there this september but never been before. Any info would be much appreciated, thanx

Hunted it lots but not in the last few years. Roads are fine right up to the closure.
There are lots of guide outfitters in the flathead valley and also lots of horse hunters because of all the road closures. In my opinion Elk numbers are way down in the flathead and the reason we have not been back is due to this. That being said it is a beautiful spot in Sept and well worth a trip and who knows you may get lucky. Just make sure to study all the road closure maps.
