I went to Hub Sports today and bought my license and two bear tags for now. Tags in hand so scouting will not be far off from now with this warm weather. Bought my fishing license on line so probably going to find some water tomorrow.

I buy a tag for everything in my area. Even though I might not be hunting as much as I would like - I feel like this is a good way to support the cause.

I am holding of on paying for licenses and tags, it's likely they will cancel the season like everything else. Or they may give out tags and licenses for free.

DannyO, before you go an fill up your LEH applications, you might consider teaming up with a seasoned hunter for a group hunt. First time applicants have an uncanny way of getting group hunts drawn and your hunting experience might just get that accelerated learning curve that you would only get from a seasoned hunter.

Not for me due too physical challenges but there are others on the site here that are likely willing to advise you on specific hunts and partnering up for a group hunt. Just a thought.

I would do the license online I did mine it only took 10 minutes don’t forget to update your residency. I got a bear tag at Canadian tire the other day and I ordered one online that was here in four days.

I have got tags/licenses online just waiting for them to come in the mail and I went to a retailer to pick up a black bear tag. No problems yet.
Also curious as you have to carry all tags with you now but I am still waiting for the rest of mine to come in the mail. So if I went out bear hunting today I would be hunting without all my tags...?

I think you could (given a REASONABLE CO) talk your way around that if it came to it. Technically, you don’t have your tags yet, so you can’t carry them, can you? Frankly, I’d get out while you can in case they pull the pin. I’m waiting for turkey to open before I head out.

Hunting season (aside from spring bear and turkey) is 5 months away. Not likely to be canceled at this point. If it is, I suspect there might be more than 50 people pounding on Horkans door!

Well we had lots of warning over the past year to get the residency updated but it sure sucks for folk like you that missed it and now this bug has shut things down and made a whole new set of timing challenges. I feel for you but it's a function of our current times.

Sorry, no help for you but every thing we do now that involves Government seems to require fore-planning and ample timing. No more waiting for the night before to buy tags or licenses - no more promises of services being available. We have to expect delays in everything now - at least until people get back into offices.

You can still do some scouting and shed hunting.

Best BS ever. (If there is such a thing as good BS). It takes 32 seconds to do it online, and keeps all sorts of non-residents from getting resident license and tags and competing for the already pressured game.

I had to update my residency this year. Uploaded a picture of my DL and it was approved later that day. Purchased my license and a few tags, three days later they were in my mailbox. Take a deep breath, it’s all good.

I buy mine asap. Maybe i just get excited, but it beats complaining in aug. or sept. when I am ready to head out and my tags haven't arrived because of systems crashing, slow mail, lost mail, etc.

I bought all my tags early in case there is disruptions because of the pandemic, and I needed the bear tags anyways, so why not get them all at once? No real down side, they are dirt cheap so doesn't matter if they go unused.

Got my license sorted out with the update residency and picked up all my tags at the only store reasonably close enough by to avoid any postal delays. Grabbed all my fall hunting tags I need as well just in case there's any issues before Sept.
