Hi ill be heading up to chataway lakes area for a few days in early october.
taking the wife up there to try and get her first buck. I havent been up there in atleast 10
years. I heard it has been logged out pretty bad. Anyone have any news on the area recently?
apreciate any help thanks.
I was just up there two weeks ago. The road in is washboard like crazy!

It’s pretty much logged out yes. I was in there for work for about a week last fall.

No I didn’t stay at the resort. I went way past chataway just to find some timber. Clear cuts as far as the eye can see.

I've been going up there for years. It's very different from when we started 10 years ago. Low risk of wildfire up there, they've done a helluva job taking fibre out but; I think it's going to be years before this area is productive again. Used to see all manner of critters, but now it's moonscape with mostly cattle on the move. I will say it's beautiful in early summer with all the fronds and tiger lillies in bloom, that is a bonus from all the opening up that's occurred and should bode well for the future. thanks for all the input guys. sounds like it has changed alot since i was last up there. i was looking on my back roads map and it looks like there a bunch of new roads up there too. guess ill have to do some exploring

Lots of Ferrel horses as as well.
Mountain Pine Beetle.
A shining example when environmentalists got it terribly wrong with a government that was stupid enough to listen to them....
