Just a question for the bino experts, I've done a fair bit of research and can't find any info on major changes to the EL line of Swarovski binoculars. Have an opportunity to purchase some EL's purchased in '07 in mint condition. Have there been any major upgrades since or are they near the same as present models? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Derek

What's the price? Glass will be just as good, so as long as they're priced well I wouldn't hesitate

Not sure on the changes but if you have a chance at getting a deal on Swaro glass do it! Own swaro Binos that are 25 years old and a brand new scope. Both are unreal

I think the only upgrades there may be is the HD glass. Not sure though. I cannot see them changing the design, but visually looking the exact same. Doesn't matter though, a pair of 07 EL's will be just fine provided the price is right. I purchased mine mid to late 90's. I've had warranty work done, well, they are pretty much new circa 2012 with new glass, which I paid for while getting work done, and a new body that was replaced under warranty. Lots and lots and lots of wear and tare.

Not the swarovision model I don't think? Whatever that means, same as HD I'd imagine. A new set is around 1k more, I'd say go after em, worth every cent...

Swarovision (SV) with HD glass came along in the 10x42 EL around 2012 and after. SV are clear to the edge versus earlier versions, but a different view that some don't like (rolling ball effect when scanning). It took a bit for me to get use to the SV but now find it the sharpest optically, (almost like getting a new prescription in your glasses). The SV are several ounces heavier on my scale and the barrels are shaped slightly different at the eye piece. We have 2014 SV and a 2003 vintage pair (wife's) and either are great binoculars. $1800 is pricey for 9 year old ELs, but don't know what the exchange rate has done to new prices? Good luck with your purchase!

1800 seems a little steep to me, i bought my 10x42 els in 07 for 2400 and they were worth every cent. that being said, a buddy that i recently got into hunting looked thru mine and wanted to get the same pair. didn't take him long to find a flawless pair of 07 els for $1350 on ebay. if you aren't in a rush, the deals definetly come up

You buy it !!! It will last you the rest of your hunting life.. They made them good back then, and they are just as good today.. If they get sold on you.. You'll kick yourself in the butt for not purchasing them.

This is precisely the info I was looking for. Thanks a lot. Guy seems pretty motivated so I'm going to go in around $1300 and see where it goes. I'm not in a rush so if it works out great, if not oh well. Very valuable info here thanks again.

that era EL are like the new SLC. Which are $2100-2400+tax

$1800 is quite fair for ones in new shape

There have been changes to the new ones. They are now swarovision, which is field flattened glass. Youd be over 3000 $ for a new pair right now, so your choice.
