Decided to put in for a new area this year and was fortunate to draw a bull moose LEH for 7-11. I was wondering if anyone could share some advise on hunting in the area? Not looking for any honey holes just a bit of info would be appreciated. Thinking about setting up camp at finger lake. Has anyone traveled up the Blackwater Rd from Quenel? Is it any faster than driving up to PG over to Vanderhoof? The guy at finger lake said it's probably a good way to get lost, just curios what your thoughts were.
Thanks.

Not too difficult to figure out there area. Have a good look at Google earth and back roads map books. Lots of donkey around. Hunt it during the rut and you should have much fun!!

Thanks 3006pg, had a look at Google earth, looked like there's a few swamps and lakes around. When's peak rut up that way? I can't get up there until October 4, hopefully not to late?

Slam dunk hunt!! Book your cooler space! Should be good timing wise! Can't get lost coming from quesnel, but I would drive the pavement, easier on rigging! Moose steaks for you this year, nice!! Moosin

As Moosin said slam dunk! If u can maybe bring a canoe in case you wanna switch it up and do some lake hunting ! You should have a great hunt and good timing on your part. Enjoy!!

When are the typical rut times in this area?
And when not hard on the rut what are the moose feeding on?

We were up that way for a week last year and only saw a cow. Nobody had anything hanging. Hopefully it will be better this year for you!
last year was bad for everyone.. way too hot way too late.....

yes...agreed...so much work..tarping and untarping...bagging and unbagging....trip cut short by 1 day to be sure meat not in jeopardy...so much extra work that it actually cut into the drinking time...heheheheh
