Nice cat scratching post. I can see it in 5 years.

Not for me. Maybe flip the bear over and put the glass table on his back. As it is, it's an unnatural position.

Different, for sure.

Sitting on top of the kitchen island its the size of a cub, sad really.

Wife probably told him..."We don't have the space for a life-size bear mount!"....wrong.

Might be one of two end tables. The main one is probably the mother bear.

Strange choice. I can only think it's hiding a flaw in skinning or taxidermy work.

100% agree, I'm all for taxidermy but that is wrong in so many ways. JMHO!

too many mounts and rugs get tucked away in the basement. If that's what it takes to be able to enjoy it for years to come, go for it! I would drink a beer off it!

That was my thinking as well. I have 4 rugs, with nowhere to hang them.....

Disrespectfull ? The bear is dead no matter how you display it
I myself don't like

respect ? its a animal mounted , not an idol to the gods
No different than using other critters or parts for lamps , coat hooks , hat racks , furniture covers , hats , coats , etc

It works for the owner , good on him , not my choice though

No it`s not to the gods,it`s about respecting the animal you killed.Posing him like a circus bear is screwed up.Might as well had a big beach ball on top of him.My wife knows better than to put Christmas lights on my deer mounts.

The mount is not for me but I don't think it's fair to say that it is any more disrespectful than any other type of mount. Why would a rug that people walk on be any more respectful than a table that you eat/drink from? And I think the sprawled out position of a rug might even be more "un-natural" than a bear on its back. Bear's dead, meat and other parts put to use ... just saying.

Nobody in their right mind walks on a bear rug.Sex sometimes but not a floor mat.

So if nobody uses the table for anything but sex then it's ok?

YOu don't see as much of this stuff anymore, but "useful taxidery" used to be pretty common. Lots of bear cub ashtray holders or elephant foot umbrella bins, tables made on animal backs, coathangers etc.

lol, damn, somebody piss in your cornflakes this morning ... you're the guy that brought it up! My point remains, bears dead, it's now a useless carcass until someone puts it to use, and I don't see where anyone's subjective definition of "respect" comes into it. Again, not my cup of tea but if the owner appreciates the use he/she gets out of it as a table then more power to them.

Personally I would have had the Bears' arms wrapped around or holding something that supported the glass. Much more natural that way.

Still first thing I thought was, "damn something horrible must have happened to the back to pose it like that."

I couldnt do something like that, my dogs would eat it. There would be nothing left.

But I would for sure do the Gary Larson thing of a cat stuffed with a pencil sharpener up its ass.

You are right ...I never thought of that. My black bear mount is doing a hand stand in a pink tutu. I should have thought more out of the box I guess.

Other way around for sure. Guy must have skinned from the back not the belly...? Buddy of mine always wanted to get a big halibut mounted and make that into a table, now that would be cool...
