well got my 4 point mule deer, it all started last week when a friend came up for the week for our annual hunt weekend/week to join my brother and I, we started hunting Greenstone seeing lots of sign from bucks and does but no rut activity for the whole weekend, we figured maybe a little delayed or all the activity was happening else where, at least the deer we were hunting were not rutting, anyways Monday came around and we had seen a few 4 points out of range and a couple small ones as well as lots of not legal bucks. Monday evening we found rubs and scrapes everywhere, this got us excited for the week figuring the rut has really got going now and we were gonna start seeing some action, throughout the week we hunted seeing lots of deer but not getting shots or unable to count to 4, once Thursday came our friend went out for the day by himself and had seen 6 bucks all big but could not count the 4 due to darkness, thick bush and you guys no how it is, anyways we are pumped for the next weekend now, rut is on, we even saw a buck in the cemetery by wholesale full mount on a doe on Friday on our walk to the store he is a big 2 point

we are in the bush by 530 this past Saturday and in our spot where we all split up at 6 and start into the bush, fresh snow and a strong wind i'm thinking this is it my favourite conditions for hunting either wind snow or rain or a combo or it all, so cut some tracks at 645 looks like 3 doe's and nice a decent sized buck track beside them so off i go on the track following a ridge line for 3km, with the tracks getting fresher and the day ahead of me ive got a pretty good shot at this buck i figure, eventually the tracks split up and the does go right and the buck left so i walk 20 yards down the doe tracks to see if they are gonna connect back and the doe' are right in front of me 40 yards wind in my face they have no idea im there, so the buck has gotta be here but where? these are the doe tracks i followed even though the buck just split up with them im thinking he might be behind this little knoll with a large juniper on top to my left that the does are looking towards, 10 min go by nothing then one doe wanders away and wouldn't you know it he walks out from behind the knoll 40 yards, count em yep 4 points ok now what, he walks by follows the doe full rut mode head down ready to giver on the doe, i pass at this opportunity figure with the other does around i better not make a move to quick and ill just track him again if need be, he walks passed and away from sight following the doe and then 5 min later hes back this time quartering away walking to another doe, i think for a second he has 4 points i better take him, would be a fool to not take an un alarmed buck at this range.....BANG dropped him double lung, now where the hell am I, don't have the gps, gave to my friend as he doesn't know the area as well as my brother and I do, so i'm not gonna leave the deer in case I cant find it again so start dragging it in the general direction of the road, 400 yards i get to a road, not sure what road, then Bob rolls on by in his quad he is nice enough to tow my buck and give me a lift on his quad the 4 and a half km up hill and that's about it.
bob not sure if your on here but I have a bottle of glenfiddich in the car for you for our next crossing of paths
