I’m somewhat skeptical of these southern resident orca numbers, because when they first started keeping track back in the 60s, the population was right where it is today, mid 60s and it’s fluctuated as high as 90, then back down to the 60s again.I might be wrong, but it seems to me a hungry whale will go wherever food is and as far as the propeller noise and boat interference, that doesn’t seem to deter the rest of the orcas and humpbacks returning to the Salish sea…but in the meantime all the rules and restrictions have decimated the once thriving salmon sports fishery …used to see pods if orcas coursing right through the salmon fleet, not in the least bothered …so much for ‘propeller noise’
